Home heavily damaged by fire in Farmington

Officials in Ontario County provided an update on a structure fire that happened around 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday in the town of Farmington.

First responders were dispatched to Elder Drive for a report of a structure fire. First on scene were met by the homeowner who said they called 911 after observing a vanity in the spare bedroom engulfed in flames.

Firefighters from Victor and Farmington responded and early investigation indicated that an electrical issue caused the fire.

The Red Cross responded to assist the homeowner.
