Ithaca PD: Late-night shooting victim seriously injured, suspect remains at-large

Police say the victim of a shooting in the city of Ithaca is currently listed in stable, but serious condition at a regional trauma center and the investigation into who did it is unfolding.

On Saturday around 9:30 p.m. police responded to the 100 block of North Plain Street for multiple reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers found a male with a gunshot wound to his upper body. Officers quickly began rendering aid to the man prior to EMS arrival.

Preliminary evidence from the scene shows the victim and suspect were engaged in a verbal dispute before shots were fired. The suspect and victim knew each other, but that suspect was neither apprehended or taken into custody as of Sunday morning.

Witnesses on-scene reported that an older style grey sedan was involved in the shooting and left before police arrival. Police also said at least two uninvolved vehicles were hit by gunfire during the incident.

The victim was flown to a regional trauma center. Heโ€™s listed in stable but serious condition there.

The Tompkins County Sheriffโ€™s Office and New York State Police are assisting with the investigation.

Anyone with information from the area is encouraged to contact IPD by calling (607) 272-3245.
