In a series of events unfolding early on October 22, Ithaca Police officers responded to multiple reports of gunfire and a subsequent burglary.
Around 1:30 a.m., officers near West State Street and Plain Street reported hearing what sounded like several gunshots.
Simultaneously, dispatch received calls about gunfire spanning the 300 and 400 blocks of West State Street and adjacent areas.
Despite a thorough sweep, officers found no evidence or victims linked to the incident.
By 3:00 a.m., fresh reports emerged regarding shots fired near West Seneca and Corn Street.
Officers once again canvassed the area but were unable to locate any related evidence or victims. In a separate incident at approximately 3:45 a.m., a break-in was reported at a business within the 500 block of West State Street.
Responding officers discovered a damaged rear door and upon entering the establishment, apprehended 24-year-old Asa Carr of Ithaca. Carr was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary and awaits arraignment.
Ithaca Police urge anyone with relevant information to come forward, assuring the community that tips can be shared anonymously if preferred.
