The Ithaca Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened at the west end of the Ithaca Commons last night.
Around 1:51 a.m. police were dispatched to East State Street for two people who had been shot after a physical altercation.
The suspect, who was described as a black male with a red hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, and white shoes – fled the area after the shooting.
The victims were transported to a regional trauma center for surgery. The injuries they sustained are not believed to be life-threatening, police said.
Anyone with information that could help the investigation is asked to contact IPD.
