Judge partially lifts cannabis licensing injunction in NY: Next court date set for September 15

On Friday, Supreme Court Justice Kevin Bryant granted a reprieve to 30 recreational cannabis licensees by lifting a temporary restraining order that had put a halt to all cannabis licensing in the state.

This decision follows claims from four service-disabled veterans alleging the application process was prejudicial. While the decision clears the way for certain applicants vetted by the Cannabis Control Board and respective municipalities, it leaves many in limbo, including over 400 other prospective dispensary owners.

Meanwhile, the Office of Cannabis Management has committed to assisting provisional licensees in obtaining exemptions. They remain optimistic about building a fair cannabis market in New York, despite current challenges. A follow-up hearing on the matter is set for September 15.
