LATEST: Newark teen charged, driver remains at-large after police chase leaves trooper, civilian hospitalized

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office says a 15-year-old juvenile was one suspect involved in the pursuit through Wayne County that resulted in a crash that sent two people to the hospital.

One of those individuals who wound up hospitalized was a state trooper.

In a new update, deputies with the sheriff’s office say a Newark teen was arrested for obstruction and criminal possession of stolen property after the pursuit earlier this week.

The pursuit went through the towns of Marion and Williamson.

However, the teen was a passenger in the vehicle and fled after the crash. The driver has not yet been located.

Deputies say the teen will face the charges at a later date.

UPDATE: Trooper, civilian both hospitalized after crash during pursuit in Wayne County

State police say two people were sent to the hospital – including a state trooper – after a pursuit in Wayne County.

In an update on Thursday, police were pursuing a stolen vehicle in Williamson just before midnight on Tuckahoe Road.

A trooper, who was heading south in pursuit of the stolen vehicle, crossed the intersection with State Route 104, and collided with an uninvolved eastbound vehicle.

The pursuit ended on Ridge Road when the stolen vehicle was stopped and the driver was taken into custody by deputies with the sheriff’s office.

Both the trooper and driver were taken to Strong Memorial Hospital. The driver of the stolen vehicle did not suffer any injuries.

The investigation into the incident remains active at this time.
