Longtime Canandaigua National Bank president and chairman honored with boardroom naming

In a tribute to its former leader, Canandaigua National Bank & Trust (CNB) has named its boardroom after George W. Hamlin, IV, the bank’s former President and Chairman of the Board. The George W. Hamlin, IV Community Boardroom, situated at CNB’s corporate headquarters in Canandaigua, was unveiled in a ceremony recognizing Hamlin’s significant contributions during his 45-year tenure.

Under his guidance, the boardroom was a central hub for strategic decision-making and collaboration, contributing to the bank’s growth in Ontario and Monroe counties. Additionally, Hamlin utilized the space to foster partnerships with community leaders, businesses, and organizations, significantly benefiting the Greater Rochester region. CNB President and CEO Frank H. Hamlin, III, expressed his hope that the naming would be a fitting tribute to his father’s transformative leadership and commitment to both the bank and the community.

This boardroom dedication marks the first occasion CNB has named a meeting room in honor of a bank leader. A plaque commemorating Hamlin’s numerous achievements and service to the Canandaigua National Corporation and its communities will also be installed.

Hamlin, who stepped down in September as Chairman of the Boards of CNB, Canandaigua National Corporation, and Canandaigua National Trust Company of Florida, retired after a remarkable career spanning four and a half decades. During his leadership, particularly the three decades as President and CEO, CNB saw considerable growth and expansion while maintaining a strong focus on customer service and employee welfare. Beyond his banking career, Hamlin has been actively involved in numerous non-profit and professional organizations, contributing significantly to various institutions and community projects across New York.
