In a potentially exciting development for the village of Waterloo the Main Street Shoppe Center is slated for a significant transformation.
Building owner Bob Stivers, in collaboration with the village, is seeking bids to convert the center’s second and third floors from commercial spaces into residential units.
This initiative is supported by a New York Main Street Anchor Grant, aiming to revitalize the heart of Waterloo by introducing new living spaces in the downtown area. The project underscores a growing trend to enhance village cores through mixed-use developments.
Historically, the Main Street Shoppe Center at 9-27 E. Main St. has served a variety of purposes. Originally revamped by the Sessler Companies in the 1980s for retail and office use, the building has changed hands over the years.
The upcoming renovation plans involve creating apartment units on the upper floors, promising to bring a fresh dynamic to the building’s utilization.
