Man falsely claims police officer is shot in Bath

In a recent incident, Thomas Popps, a 34-year-old resident of Bath, was arrested for falsely reporting an emergency involving a police officer.

According to police reports, Popps called 911 and abruptly hung up after claiming that an officer had been shot.

This distress call, which was later discovered to be a hoax, prompted a significant response from various law enforcement agencies. They rushed to the scene at 46 West Steuben Street in the village, only to find that the reported incident was fabricated.

Following the investigation, Popps faced charges for falsely reporting an incident. He has been released on an appearance ticket for Bath Village Court.
