Man shot answering knock at the door in Rochester overnight

Rochester Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit is probing a fatal shooting incident that occurred early Sunday morning on Shelter Street, near Lloyd Street.

A 22-year-old man was shot multiple times around 4 a.m. after responding to a knock on his door. He was rushed to URMC, where he was pronounced dead around 6 a.m.

At the time of the shooting, the only other individual in the house was a child under 12, who was asleep and unharmed. As of now, no suspects are in custody, and the motive behind the shooting remains unclear. The victim’s identity is yet to be released pending family notification.
