Mets blanked by Braves in series opener

The New York Mets (52-63) were blanked by the Atlanta Braves (73-41), 7-0, in the series opener on Friday night at Citi Field.

New York had several opportunities to put runs on the board, but they went 0-for-12 with runners in scoring position and left 14 on base.

Tylor Megill allowed six runs (five earned) over 5 1/3 innings, and Jimmy Yacabonis gave up a run over 3 2/3 innings.

The Mets and Braves will play a day-night doubleheader on Saturday, with start times set for 1:10 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.
