Mets bullpen falls apart in loss to Pirates

The New York Mets (54-66) had their two-game win streak snapped with a 7-4 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates (54-66) on Tuesday night at Citi Field after the bullpen melted down in the late innings.ย 

The game was tied at one going into the seventh, but New Yorkโ€™s bullpen gave up six runs, and the offense couldnโ€™t pull off a comeback.ย 

Brandon Nimmo, DJ Stewart, and Jonathan Arauz all went deep in the loss. Nimmo and Stewart combined for four of the teamโ€™s seven hits.ย 

David Peterson allowed a run over the first 3 2/3 innings before Jose Butto and Grant Hartwig each gave up three in relief.ย 

The Mets will hand the ball to Tylor Megill in the series finale on Wednesday at 1:10 p.m.ย
