Major League Baseball decided to suspend the game at 12:50 a.m. Friday, about three hours after the contest was put into a delay.
This causes chaos for the Marlins and MLB because Miami is trying to clinch a postseason berth, and this game could be the deciding factor. With no more off days left, the Marlins will likely have to fly back to New York on Monday to resume the game, a day before the postseason begins.
The Mets will begin their final series of the season on Friday when they welcome the Philadelphia Phillies to town. The first pitch is set for 7:10 p.m.
