Luis Severino will not return to the Yankees in 2024 but won’t have to move very far.
The right-handed pitcher signed a one-year, $13 million contract with the Mets, ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported Wednesday night.
Severino, 29, spent the past eight seasons with the Yankees but dealt with many injuries and had the worst season of his career in 2023, posting a 6.65 ERA in 19 games.
The two-time All-Star hasn’t made more than 19 starts in a season since 2018.
Severino reunites with manager Carlos Mendoza and gets another crack at free agency next winter.
