The New York Mets (42-47) had their six-game win streak snapped with a 3-1 loss to the San Diego Padres at Petco Park on Saturday night.
New York could not get anything going offensively against Padres starter Blake Snell, who allowed just one hit over six innings while striking out 11.
The lone run came from the rookie, Francisco Alvarez, who smacked his 17th home run of the season in the seventh.
David Peterson gave up all three runs in the second and that was all San Diego needed.
The Mets will try to rebound and win the series on Sunday at 4:10 p.m. with Max Scherzer on the hill.
