Governor Kathy Hochul has announced the opening of applications for the Excelsior Scholarship for the Spring 2024 term, offering tuition-free college to eligible students at SUNY and CUNY institutions.
This initiative, aimed at supporting students from families with incomes up to $125,000, underscores the state’s commitment to making higher education accessible and affordable.
The scholarship, combined with other financial aids, is set to benefit students pursuing two- or four-year degrees, provided they meet certain academic criteria, including completing 30 credits per year and being on track for timely graduation.
This financial program reflects New York’s investment in its future workforce and economy, supporting over 180,000 state residents in 2022, with a significant percentage attending SUNY and CUNY colleges tuition-free.
Applications for the Spring 2024 term are open until February 2, 2024, for both new and current students who have not previously received the scholarship.
