New York secures $13.5M federal grant for urban forestry enhancement

Governor Kathy Hochul revealed on Friday that New York state has secured $13.5 million in federal support, provided by the U.S. Department of Agricultureโ€™s Forest Service Urban and Community Forestry Program.

This funding is earmarked to bolster urban and community forestry, ensuring broader and more equitable public access to trees and green spaces.

Managed by the State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), the funds will initiate grant opportunities via New Yorkโ€™s Urban and Community Forestry Program.
