A Newark man has pleaded guilty to attempted murder and assault charges. Now, he’ll spend more than 20 years in prison.
Chet A. Dewolf, a 22-year-old from Newark, pled guilty to attempted murder and assault, resulting in a 22-year sentence in state prison. The conviction stems from a violent incident last year in the Town of Arcadia, where Dewolf attacked a female acquaintance, inflicting severe injuries.
The assault occurred at Norsen Park, where Dewolf slit the woman’s throat and stabbed her multiple times before fleeing. The victim, who was critically injured, was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital, suffering from lasting nerve damage.
Wayne County law enforcement and emergency services responded promptly to the scene, with the case leading to a substantial sentence by Justice Richard Healy.
