Starbucks is facing an order from the National Labor Review Board (NLRB) to reopen its shuttered Collegetown location in Ithaca and reinstate its workers, as part of a ruling delivered on Thursday by Deputy Chief Administrative Law Judge Arthur Amchan.
The judge found that Starbucks had violated federal labor laws on multiple occasions, primarily concerning the treatment of 13 employees at its three unionized store locations in Ithaca.
Judge Amchan held that the Collegetown storeโs closure was โdone in large part to discourage unionization efforts in Ithaca and elsewhere.โ
Despite this order, Starbucks has contested the NLRBโs findings and expressed its intention to legally challenge Judge Amchanโs decision.
