Gary Sanchez is headed back to the big leagues.
The New York Mets have reportedly called up the veteran catcher from Triple-A Syracuse, and he will be active for Fridayโs series opener against the Cleveland Guardians, per Andy Martino of SNY.
Sanchez, 30, agreed to a minor-league contract with the Mets just over a week ago. The deal allowed him to opt out if he was not added to the MLB roster by Friday.
In seven games with Triple-A Syracuse, Sanchez hit .318/.531/.545 clip with a homer, two doubles, eight walks, and nine strikeouts.
Sanchez spent seven seasons with the Yankees earlier in his career.
