RG&E pole destroyed after late-night rollover crash in Canandaigua: Driver ticketed and hospitalized

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office gave an update on a personal injury crash that happened on County Road 16 in the town of Canandaigua around 10:30 p.m. on Friday.

Deputies were dispatched to a reported rollover crash there where an RG&E pole was damaged.

The driver, identified as Benjamin Pitler, 32, of Canandaigua, reportedly fell asleep while driving causing him to veer across the road and strike the pole.

County Road 16 was closed for approximately 2 hours while crews worked the scene. Pitler was treated at Thompson Hospital for minor injuries. He was also ticketed for failure to keep right.
