Rochester man caught in Cayuga County using stolen card to buy lottery tickets and Visa gift cards

Sheriff Brian Schenck says a Rochester man was taken into custody after a fraud complaint and investigation in the town of Brutus.

According to the sheriff’s office, Jerome Hightower Jr. is accused of using a stolen credit card to purchase lottery tickets and $500 Visa gift cards throughout the state, as well as Ohio and Pennsylvania.

He was identified via video footage by the Monroe Crime Analysis Center and taken into custody on February 14.

He’s been charged with grand larceny and identity theft, both felonies.

Hightower is currently being held at the Cayuga County Jail on a fugitive from justice warrant stemming from theft charges in Pennsylvania.
