The Seneca Falls Police Department has given an update on a violent assault that happened at a residence along Fall Street last month.
On December 10 around 5:15 p.m., local police, aided by the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office and North Seneca Ambulance, rushed to a house on Fall Street following a report of an assault. Upon arrival they found a woman severely injured with multiple stab wounds and in critical condition.
Thanks to the quick response and skilled care of paramedics and the staff at Strong Memorial Hospital, the victim survived the life-threatening attack. The Seneca Falls Police Department immediately launched an extensive investigation, leading to the identification of the attacker, Jocolby S. Wallace, a 35-year-old man from Rochester.
A sealed Grand Jury indictment resulted in a warrant for Wallace’s arrest, issued by the Seneca County Court. On December 31 at about 2:30 a.m., Wallace was apprehended without any incident.
This arrest was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police. Wallace was then handed over to the Seneca County Jail to await his court appearance.
On January 1 Wallace faced a judge in the Seneca County Court. He was arraigned on serious charges, including second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, first-degree burglary, and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. The court decided that Wallace should be held at the Seneca County Jail without bail. He is scheduled to return to court at a later date for further proceedings in this case.
