Nurses at Rochester Regional Health (RRH) have expressed their readiness to strike next week if an agreement with hospital administration is not reached.
According to the Rochester Union of Nurses and Allied Professionals (RUNAP), there has been a significant decrease in nursing staff numbers even as patient needs continue to increase.
Nurses report that corner-cutting measures have become common due to staffing shortages, impacting patient care quality.
Despite this, RUNAP’s concerns, especially regarding staffing levels in emergency departments, persist. Eslinger emphasized that both parties share a commitment to patient care and expressed optimism for successful contract negotiations. The decision on whether RUNAP members will strike is set to be voted on July 20.
