Sabres embarrassed at home in blowout loss to Blue Jackets

There weren’t many fans at KeyBank Center on Tuesday night, but the ones there didn’t have much to cheer for. The Buffalo Sabres got embarrassed by the 28th-ranked Columbus Blue Jackets, losing 9-4 and dropping to 13-17-3 on the season.

Buffalo scored 30 seconds into the game on Rasmus Dahlin’s eighth of the season, but things quickly unraveled. Columbus scored seven consecutive goals, including four in the second period, and rolled from there.

Kyle Okposo (6), Tage Thompson (8), and Dylan Cozens (6) found the back of the net in the third period, but it was too late.

Goaltender Devon Levi was pulled after allowing the first four goals, and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen allowed the rest.

Box Score

The Sabres look to snap their two-game skid Thursday night at home when they welcome the Toronto Maple Leafs. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
