Sabres go 0-for-6 on power play in home loss to Bruins

The Buffalo Sabres (14-18-4) returned from the Christmas break and fell 4-1 to the Boston Bruins (20-7-6) at KeyBank Center on Wednesday night.

Buffalo outshot Boston 26-25 but went 0-for-6 on the power play, including a four-minute 5-on-4 and a 27-second 5-on-3. On top of that, the penalty kill was 1-for-4.

The Sabres gave up two goals in each of the first two periods before Erik Johnson broke the shutout with his third goal of the season at 5:11 in the third period.

Owen Power and Casey Mittelstadt notched assists, while Devon Levi made 21 saves.

The Sabres, who have dropped four of five, will face the Columbus Blue Jackets at home Saturday. The puck drop is set for 5 p.m.
