Sabres open road trip with loss to Ducks

The Buffalo Sabres opened a three-game road trip out west on Tuesday night, and it did not start on the right note as they fell 4-2 to the Anaheim Ducks.

Buffalo (20-23-4) trailed 3-0 after 40 minutes but fought their way back, scoring two goals to cut the deficit to one with just under three minutes left in regulation, but the comeback would fall short after Anaheim sealed the win with an empty-net goal.

Jordan Greenway (5) and Kyle Okposo scored the goals for the Sabres, while Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 32 saves between the pipes.

Buffalo went 1-for-3 on the power play and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill.

Box Score

The Sabres will visit the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday at 10:30 p.m.
