The Buffalo Sabres opened a six-game homestand on Tuesday night, and it did not start on the right note as they fell 5-2 to the Seattle Kraken, snapping a two-game win streak and dropping to 17-20-4 at the official halfway point of the season.
Buffalo trailed 2-1 after 20 minutes but tied the game 50 seconds into the second period. However, Seattle responded with three consecutive goals to end the middle stanza and locked it down in the third to secure the win.
Jeff Skinner (17) and Alex Tuch (11) were the goal scorers for the Sabres, while Devon Levi stopped 20-of-25 shots. Casey Mittelstadt tallied two assists and Skinner added one as well to complete a two-point night.
Buffalo went 0-for-1 on the power play and 0-for-1 on the penalty kill.
