The Buffalo Sabres made a second move ahead of Friday’s 3 p.m. trade deadline, sending captain Kyle Okposo to the Florida Panthers in exchange for defenseman Calle Sjalin and a conditional seventh-round pick.
The seventh-round pick will become a fifth-round pick in 2024 if Florida wins the Stanley Cup.
Okposo played 516 games across eight seasons with the Sabres, the last two of which he spent as team captain.
Sjalin, 24, was drafted by the New York Rangers in the fifth round of the 2017 draft. He has 11 points (five goals, six assists) in 61 AHL games.
