Matthew, originally from Onaway, MI, was last seen leaving Rochester around 10 p.m. on Monday without his phone, driving east. His car, a 2014 gray Jeep Cherokee with Michigan license plate ESR 8141, was last traced to a thruway exit in Syracuse.
Matthew’s family, who have traveled to Rochester to aid in the search, noted that it’s unusual for him to leave town without informing anyone. His recent online searches included maps of the Adirondacks and the Appalachian Trail, suggesting a possible interest in exploring these areas. However, his father, Mark, expressed confusion over Matthew’s actions, considering his dislike for the cold and his otherwise stable and engaged life in Rochester. As co-captain of his wrestling team, Matthew was actively involved and doing well both academically and athletically.
Matthew’s family urges anyone with information about his disappearance or the whereabouts of his vehicle, which may have an Onaway wrestling sticker on the back, to contact 911 immediately. They conveyed a heartfelt message to Matthew, assuring him he is not in trouble and imploring him to make contact so they can assist in his safe return. The family’s plea emphasizes their desperation to find Matthew and the importance of any information that could lead to his whereabouts.
