A groundbreaking collaboration between three leading Seneca County organizations will present the “Highest & Best Use Study” for the former Willard Drug Treatment Campus.
The Seneca County Board of Supervisors, Chamber of Commerce, and Industrial Development Agency (IDA) are joining forces to highlight the potential of the Willard project to revitalize the local community.
The presentation is set for Monday, November 13, 5:00 p.m. at South Seneca High School in Ovid and is open to the public.
The redevelopment initiative is spearheaded by the IDA, which engaged a consortium of consulting firms to produce the study. This research evaluates possible redevelopment avenues and their impacts. Prior to this, the IDA organized Public Input Sessions in July and October to solicit community feedback.
Preliminary site concepts encompassing recreational, residential, educational, and hospitality sectors, grounded in local demographics, economic conditions, and community vision, were well-received during the October session.
Local leaders express optimism about the project’s transformative potential. Seneca County Manager, Kyle Lovell, emphasized the unique historical significance of the Willard Campus and the shared vision for its future.
Jeff Shipley, Chamber of Commerce President, sees the project as a pivot towards long-term sustainable economic growth for Seneca County, while IDA’s Sarah Davis lauded the community’s fervor and dedication to the cause.
