Seneca Falls announces sanitary sewer inspections

The Town of Seneca Falls Sewer Department has issued a notice to residents about a scheduled cleaning and inspection of the sanitary sewer system.

The maintenance work is set to take place from Tuesday, November 14, through Friday, November 17, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The affected areas include Boston Avenue, Butler Avenue, and Van Cleef Street.

This routine operation is part of the townโ€™s commitment to maintaining its infrastructure and ensuring the proper functioning of the sewer system.

Residents in these areas might experience temporary sewer odors as a result of the cleaning process, which can remove water from sewer traps.

The Sewer Department advises running water for two minutes to refill these traps if odors are detected.

Additionally, as a precautionary measure, it is recommended that residents keep their toilet seat lids down with a weight of approximately 5 pounds on top to prevent any potential water โ€œburpsโ€ during the cleaning.

The Sewer Department assures residents that they can continue using sinks, toilets, and other appliances normally during this period.

In case of any water and sewer emergencies, residents are instructed to contact 9-1-1 immediately. The Town of Seneca Falls appreciates the cooperation of its residents as it undertakes these essential maintenance activities.
