The 77th Annual It’s A Wonderful Life Festival in Seneca Falls is set to feature the 9th Annual ‘It’s A Wonderful Holiday Lights Contest,’ with participants preparing for the judging on December 4 and 5.
Winners will be announced at the Community Festival Block Party on December 7. This festive competition encourages residents to showcase their holiday spirit in one of three categories: The Clarence Award for brightest display, The Mary Bailey Award for traditional decoration, and The Uncle Billy Award for best use of holiday characters.
Haidee Oropallo, president of the festival, emphasized the contest’s role in fostering community spirit and celebration. Two prizes per category, $500 for first place and $250 for second, will be awarded, along with a $100 “Fan Favorite” prize determined through online voting. Photos of the contestants’ decorations will be posted on the festival’s website for this purpose.
Residents interested in participating can find the rules and application form on the festival’s website or pick up a form from local businesses. The competition is open exclusively to Seneca Falls residents, adding to the town’s renowned holiday charm, which is also celebrated through the festival’s homage to the classic film ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’, recently named New York’s favorite Christmas movie in a study by CSGOLuck.
