Sheriff: Woodhull resident knowingly defrauded Steuben County for over $9,000

The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Woodhull resident on several charges – including grand larceny and falsifying business records.

Joseph Duell, 54, is accused of knowingly defrauding the Department of Social Services in Steuben County for a period of months.

As result, he received over $9,100 illegally. Duell was charged with felony counts of offering a false instrument for filing, falsifying business records, and grand larceny.

The charges will be answered at a later date, deputies said.

Several agencies were involved in the investigation – including the Steuben County Department of Social Services Fraud and Legal Affairs Unit, and the District Attorney’s Office.
