Steuben County stabbing leaves three hospitalized, one arrested

A late-night alcohol-fueled fight on County Route 56 in Steuben County escalated into a stabbing incident, leaving three individuals injured and one man facing felony charges.

Responding to reports of an assault on December 10th, New York State Police and the Steuben County Sheriffโ€™s Office found a chaotic scene where multiple individuals had been stabbed during an altercation. Three men were transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment, with two remaining in stable condition as of Thursday.

Investigators believe the incident stemmed from a physical altercation between individuals consuming alcohol, and that knives were wielded during the fight. Ausencio Roblero Lopez, one of the subjects involved, was medically discharged from the hospital on December 12 and subsequently arrested for criminal possession of a forged instrument, which is a felony.

He is currently awaiting arraignment in the Steuben County Jail.

Authorities emphasize that the investigation is ongoing and the motive behind the altercation remains unclear. They assure the public that there is no immediate threat to safety.
