On October 21 the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office arrested Patrick J. Phillips, 36, of Bath following allegations of an attempted home invasion that involved gunfire.
Authorities claim Phillips attempted to gain unlawful entry into a residence by firing a shotgun round through the door. He then reportedly fled the scene in a stolen vehicle.
The situation escalated when deputies found Phillips on Nash Road in the Town of Bath, where he had allegedly crashed the stolen vehicle. With the aid of the New York State Police, officers disarmed and detained him.
Phillips faces charges including first-degree burglary, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and first-degree reckless endangerment. After receiving medical attention for injuries from the crash, he was arraigned and held at the Steuben County Jail. The ongoing investigation indicates more charges may follow.
Sheriff Jim Allard extended gratitude to the New York State Police and the Village of Bath Police Department for their collaborative efforts during the investigation and arrest.
