Steuben man arrested after high-speed chase

Jason Loper, a Steuben County resident, was apprehended this week following a high-speed police chase that occurred earlier in December.

The incident began on December 7 when Loper, aware of an existing probation violation warrant, fled a traffic stop on Interstate 86 in Bath.

The pursuit, which extended through several towns, was eventually called off by the Steuben County Sheriffโ€™s Department due to safety concerns, as Loper committed numerous traffic violations including reckless driving.

Loperโ€™s arrest came after multiple warrants were issued in the towns affected by the chase. He faces a slew of charges including aggravated unlicensed operation, reckless driving, fleeing an officer, and various other charges.
