SUNY Corning Community College (CCC) and Elmira College have signed a significant articulation agreement, ensuring CCC graduates a streamlined transfer to Elmira College for their bachelor’s degree pursuits. The collaboration aims to empower students to continue their education close to home, enhancing career prospects through aligned academic programs. Dr. William P. Mullaney, President of SUNY CCC, highlighted the partnership’s role in elevating the community by facilitating accessible higher education opportunities.
Under the new agreement, CCC graduates meeting specific grade point average criteria are eligible for substantial scholarships at Elmira College. Those with a GPA of 3.3 or higher will receive a $20,000 Transfer Scholarship, while students with a GPA of 3.2 and lower will be awarded a $15,000 scholarship. This financial support is designed to mitigate the cost of earning a bachelor’s degree, with additional need-based grants available to qualifying students. Dr. Charles W. Lindsay, President of Elmira College, emphasized the arrangement’s focus on reducing financial hurdles for students.
This partnership not only eases the financial strain of pursuing further education but also ensures that up to 68 credits from CCC can be transferred towards a bachelor’s degree at Elmira College. The deal underscores both institutions’ commitment to lifelong learning, leadership, and community involvement, with officials from both colleges expressing enthusiasm for the positive impact this will have on students and the regional workforce. Interested CCC students are encouraged to contact the Enrollment Advisement Center for more details on this transformative opportunity.
