SUV crashes over Rt. 96A bridge, into Cayuga-Seneca Canal

First responders from an array of agencies were dispatched to the area of State Route 96 in Waterloo for a vehicle that traveled off a bridge and into the Cayuga-Seneca Canal.

The Seneca County Sheriffโ€™s Office, New York State Police, Border City Fire Department, North Seneca Ambulance, and DEC Police all responded to the scene.

No injuries were reported, but first responders say the SUV was traveling north when it left the road just before the bridge on Route 96A. The car narrowly missed a utility pole, then crashed down a steep embankment into the canal.

The incident remains under investigation.
