The Syracuse basketball team blew a 15-point halftime lead but still picked up a road victory, edging North Carolina State 87-83 on Tuesday night at the PNC Arena behind Chris Bell’s 26-point first half and Quadir Copeland’s career-high 25 points.
The Orange improved to 17-10 on the season, 8-8 in the ACC, and 3-6 on the road.
Syracuse led 55-40 after 20 minutes of play, but poor second-half shooting allowed NC State to go on a run and even take a one-point lead with 3:15 remaining in regulation, but four clutch free throws in the final 15 seconds sealed the win for Cuse.
Bell’s 26-point night led the team, and all of it came in the first half. He knocked down eight three-pointers and went 2-for-2 from the free-throw line. Judah Mintz poured in 15 points, while JJ Starling added 13.
