Tompkins Cortland Community College has seen a significant increase in student enrollment for the fourth consecutive semester, defying the downward trend experienced by community colleges across New York State during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Ithaca Voice reports that despite recent concerns highlighted by the Albany Times Union regarding potential accreditation risks due to finances or enrollment issues, TC3’s accreditation remains secure.
President Dr. Amy Kremenek told The Voice that a misunderstanding about the school’s financial reporting to the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) was quickly resolved, ensuring the institution’s accreditation remains intact until its next review in the 2026-2027 academic year.
The college has made remarkable strides in reversing the enrollment decline seen in the late 2010s, with the Fall 2023 semester reporting 4,750 students. The college remains optimistic about the future, officials added.
