Three-goal third period lifts Sabres over Flyers

The Buffalo Sabres used a three-goal third period to defeat the Philadelphia Flyers, 5-2, on Wednesday night at the Wells Fargo Center despite being outshot 40-15. With the victory, Buffalo moved to 5-5-0 on the season.

Tage Thomspon recorded his second three-point night of the season, netting his fifth goal and tallying two assists. Brandon Biro scored a pair of goals, including an empty-netter, in his second NHL game. Owen Power sniped his first of the season, while Casey Mittelstadt added a goal and an assist.

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 38 saves, including 20 in the final period. He is now 3-0 as a starter this season.

Buffalo went 0-for-2 on the power play and a perfect 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.
