As NASCAR weekend races into Schuyler County, local authorities are preparing for significant traffic changes on Sunday, Aug. 20.
The Schuyler County Sheriffโs Office announced that County Road 16 will adjust to a one-way, three-lane system from state Route 414 to Gate 2 of the racetrack, effective from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Meanwhile, Kuhl Winner Way will shift to a one-way pattern from 9 a.m., directing southbound traffic from County Road 16 to Gate 5 and northbound traffic from Bronson Hill Road to Gate 6. After the race concludes around 5:30 p.m., a one-way flow will establish on County Road 16 from the track towards state Route 414, anticipated to persist for over three hours.
Residents have been advised on alternative routes, and while Monday will witness standard traffic patterns, an increased volume is expected due to race-goers departing.
The sheriffโs office stresses that emergency responses remain feasible during high-traffic times, and sheriff patrols will be present to address any concerns. Any issues can be reported to the sheriffโs office at (607) 535-8222.
