Traffic stop leads to felony drug, weapon charges in Tompkins County

In a traffic stop executed by the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, a local man was apprehended on charges of drug distribution and weapons possession Friday afternoon.

The suspect, identified as Tyrone Little, was stopped on Peruville Road, in the town of Groton, where authorities noticed drug paraphernalia in the vehicle leading to a subsequent search.

During the search of the vehicle, officers uncovered 12 grams of presumed powder cocaine, quantities of suspected crack cocaine and heroin packaged in small baggies, a ledger, a scale with validation weights, and additional packaging materials.

A later search of Little’s residence revealed 81 more grams of presumed powder cocaine and several firearms. All these discoveries resulted in charges including two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and multiple counts related to criminal possession of a weapon, with each count representing a felony.

The charges will be answered at a later date in local court.
