Trista Nicolo, a seasoned educator from Rochester, NY, has been named the new Assistant Principal at Wayne Elementary and Wayne Primary Schools.
Bringing over 15 years of experience in the educational sector, Nicolo is recognized for her expertise in curriculum and literacy development. Her career in education has been marked by a series of progressive roles within the West Irondequoit School District since 2008, demonstrating her versatility and commitment to educational excellence.
Throughout her tenure at West Irondequoit, Nicolo has undertaken various key positions. As a K-12 Literacy Coach, she was instrumental in fostering a positive school culture, revamping the Response to Intervention process, and establishing a robust coaching model for new teachers with a focus on literacy. Her interim roles included serving as the K-12 Curriculum Supervisor in 2021, where she played a crucial role in refining RTI structures and aiding the reopening of schools, and as the Acting Director of Humanities in 2022, where she led initiatives such as a K-4 Reading Resource Pilot and contributed to diversity and inclusion efforts.
Earlier, as a K-6 Instructional Teacher on Special Assignment from 2017 to 2021, Nicolo significantly impacted curriculum design and teacher development. Prior to these roles, she had a successful stint teaching first, third, and sixth grades, from 2008 to 2017, where she emphasized creating inclusive learning environments and comprehensive student assessments. Nicoloโs educational background includes a masterโs degree in education from SUNY Brockport, along with professional certificates as a School Building Leader and School District Leader from the Warner School of Education at the University of Rochester.
