Victor man charged with manslaughter after deadly stabbing last August

Jakob Chittenden, 20, from Victor, was charged with first-degree manslaughter following a fatal stabbing incident last August. Chittenden pleaded not guilty in court before Judge Frederick Reed, claiming self-defense, with his bail set at $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond.

The incident occurred early on August 5, 2023, when state troopers responded to a fight on Cunningham Drive in Victor. According to reports, Adam C. Record, 26, of Manchester, was found with fatal stab wounds after allegedly attacking Chittenden as he got out of his car.

Ontario County District Attorney Jim Ritts confirmed Recordโ€™s death due to significant injuries but withheld further comments until the trial. He also stated there was no known relationship between Chittenden and Record.

Defense attorney Daniel Strollo argued that Record had followed Chittenden home after an earlier bar altercation, leading to the fatal confrontation. Chittenden reportedly suffered a broken ankle and other injuries in the incident. A significant turnout from friends and family of both parties was observed during the court proceedings.

The case is set for an attorneys-only conference on February 15, with further motions to be argued on March 21.
