Victor middle schooler advances in Civics Bee

In a notable achievement at the Rochester qualifier for the National Civics Bee, Brody Steward, a dedicated middle school student from Victor Central School District, secured first place. The event, organized by the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce, spotlighted the civics acumen of students in grades 6 through 8 and encouraged their engagement with pivotal community issues.

Shannon Ealy, the Chamberโ€™s director of communication & marketing, emphasized the importance of involving young students in understanding governmental processes and decision-making early on. This initiative reflects the Chamberโ€™s commitment to fostering civic awareness among the youth.

Brody Steward, along with two other distinguished students, is set to advance to the New York State qualifier in Albany by the end of May. There, they will vie for the opportunity to represent New York at the national level, with the ultimate winner receiving a $1,000 prize.
