Village of Aurora, Cayuga, and Union Springs join forces for state’s DRI application

The villages of Aurora, Cayuga, and Union Springs are joining forces to apply for the New York state’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI), a program which grants $10 million annually to support downtown investments.

The Citizen reported the group-effort on Friday.

The DRI has distributed $100 million yearly across the state’s 10 economic development regions, with the city of Auburn securing a grant in 2018.

The county’s planning department is also assisting the three villages in securing funding from the NY Forward program, targeting smaller, rural communities.

Aurora, Cayuga, and Union Springs had previously applied for this initiative without success. Applications for both the DRI and NY Forward close on September 29, with grant winners to be unveiled later this year.
