The Waterloo Volunteer Fire Department is set to upgrade its fleet with the acquisition of a 2017 Spartan Metro Custom Pumper fire truck, replacing their two-decade-old 1999 model.

Following a unanimous decision by the Village Board during a special meeting on Aug. 18, the purchase, valued at $495,000, will be made from Brindlee Mountain Fire Apparatus Company, based in Union Grove, Ala.

Payment for the fire truck will be spread out over five years. Further details concerning the agreement and the upcoming sale of the 1999 fire truck model at auction will be discussed in the boardโ€™s regular meeting on Sept. 11.
