Waterloo home heavily damaged after early-morning fire (photos)

First responders in Waterloo were dispatched to a fire that could’ve been much worse, according to firefighters with the Border City Fire Department.

At 3:13 a.m., emergency crews responded to a house fire on L.T. Rice Drive along 5&20 for a structure fire.

The Border City Fire Department, supported by teams from Geneva, Waterloo, and Oaks Corners, quickly arrived at the scene. Assistance was also provided by Finger Lakes Ambulance, the Seneca County Fire Investigation Team, and the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office.

Initial reports had indicated that a person might be trapped inside the burning house. However, upon arrival, firefighters confirmed that all occupants were accounted for, alleviating immediate concerns for safety.

The fire was contained to approximately a quarter of the residence, according to officials with the Border City Fire Department.
